I have had a love-hate relationship with fungi. The taste and texture of mushrooms has always put me off. However, over the years, I started to appreciate how interesting they are and how there is a whole fungi world that I have been ignoring. Then I joined the Biodiversity Literacy VIP and this was the perfect opportunity to dive into nature. During our second bird walk of the semester along the Kinnesburn, Collared Earthstars were pointed out. I was amazed, I had no idea fungi like that were in St Andrews. These fungi remain my favourite from the whole semester. From then on I started noticing, searching and identifying different fungi.
